What's your opinon?

So, as I've said multiple times, high heels are a icon of feminism and glamour.
With this in mind you can probably imagine the image that is portrayed when wearing high heels. The purpose of high heels, as I've said is to make women look more flattering and attractive to men. In reality, high heels are quite a sexualized product in this day and age.
Teenagers these days seem to be 12 going on 20 and they're dressing and acting years ahead of thier time. This is resulting in girls as young as 11 buying these huge heels and going out to under age nightclubs wearing them., giving off this image that high heels create.
This may seem like all well and good and just bit of harmless fun but where do we draw the line between playing dress up and sexualizing children.
People are always arguing over this but what's your opinion?

Thank you so much for reading my blog!

Styles of high heels

So, I've told you the original and the modern day purposes of high heels. I've explained why people wear high heels and how heels have developed over ages. Not only that, but I've also thrown in a few pictures just to spruce things up a bit. Don't worry though, this post will be minimum pictures, I promise, as this is when I'll be telling you about all the different kind of heels which means LOTS of pictures!

Platforms
Platform heels
Platforms are distintly recognized by the large area beneath the toe section of the high heels. This is called a 'platform' and hense  these shoes are get their name simply from their giveaway feature. Don't worry now not all platforms have to be stupidly high the classic platform heel fails to exceed one or two centimeters, but in recent times these crazy creations have become very popular amongst yound adults and teens.
Wedges
Wedge heels
Wedge heels literally do what they say on the tin. Unlike platforms heels they don't have an isolated heels but instead have a continuous 'block' from the back of the heels to the front creating a wedge. Wedges come in all kind of different colours, shapes and sizes and more often than not theyre a lot more practical and a LOT easier to walk in!
Kitten heels
Kitten HeelsKitten heels are a classic! They're easily identified by their low heels and no platform. Kitten heels are mainly worn by thr older generation but theyre known world wide by all generations. Personally, thye're not my cup of tea but it's up to the buyer. What do you think..?

Stiletto
Stilettos, the ultimate sign of feminism. If you've never heard of these shoes you must be livinmg under a rock. Stilettos are the classic high heels. They have an isolated heel and a flat sole beneath the toe. Stilettos are the foundation for many other high heels like the platform or the kitten heel like i mentioned above. Stilettos are classy, glamourous and a personal favorite of mine. What do you think?

When heels go bad

Up until recently heels were very practical and classy, but since the 80's and 90's the platfrom heel has become highly popular due to people like Elton John or The Spice Girls. You may read this and think oh platforms are just another high eeled shoes whats the big deal? Just take a look for your self..
Imagine trying to walk in these huge heels and if you think those are bad you'll want to keep reading to see more of these stupidly shocking shoes!
Since 2008 Lady GaGa has been a huge icon mainly because of her dratic fashion choices. She went one step further than the orignial 'platform' and took high heels to the next level. The worst part is Lady GaGa wears these heels out in public.
Just look! It's ridiculous.
You and I will look at these extreme items and wouldn't even consider buying them, simply because of their appearace. However, even if we wanted them they cost thousands upon thousands of dollars! Crazy, I know! Just look at some of her other collectables, could we even imagine wearing these? I think not..

Heels over the ages

So, as I've mentioned previously, rumour has it that high heels originated in Persian times and were used to keep riders feet secure in the stirups, oh and get this; men wore them! I know the idea of a man wearing a high heel is simply absurd to us in this day and age but back then it would have been considered just as odd if a woman were to wear high heels, so what changed that turned high heels from a riders boot to symbol of high fashion and luxoury?
Wait, before I go into the boring history aspect of shoes (yes, shoes have history too, it's not all political things) I ought to show you just how *ehm* lovely these heels were, at least they fit their purpose! Now, the boring part. How did high heels develop from these prehistoric clogs to the fabulus fashion icons that high heels are today.
Modern High Heels
It wasn't until the early 1600's that the mold for women's high heels was broken when a monarch wore high heels to her wedding, then the trend began! The phenoninom radiated outward from Florence, Italy to become the popular product it is today. Heels have definitly changed in style however, just look for yourself...

Why do people wear high heels?

People always are telling us how bad heels are not only for your feet, but also for your hips and back, so why do we still continue wearing them? Not only do we still wear them despite all the warnings but we continue to increase the height of the heel as well!
For an outsider looking in this may seem crazy but trust me, there's method behind the madness.
Although high heels were originally developed for male riders they serve an entirely different purpose now. These days' high heels are mainly worn by women. They come in all different style and colours, for example;

So back to the question in hand, why do people wear high heels? It's purely cosmetic really! High heels give the illusion of longer, slimmer legs and they also give an extra few inches!
If that doesn't explain enough for you, and you're still wondering why women endure such pain and risks to their bodies just to make themselves look a tad bit better, well the answer is simple. Women are incredibly vein creatures. There's no other way to put it. It's obvious they are though. They wear make up, use sun beds, even pull tiny hairs off of their eyebrows just in the hope that they'll look better!
The real question is though, is it realy worth it? I'll leave you to answer that one for yourself.
